Alitalia is the national airline of Italy which was established on 16 september as Aerolinee Italiane Internazionali, but more commonly known as Alitalia.It has its Headquartered in Rome and operates to domestic and international destinations. Alitalia's main base is Malpensa International Airport , Milan, with a hub at Leonardo Da Vinci International Airport (FCO), Rome.

Alitalia is the national airline of Italy which was established on 16 september as Aerolinee Italiane Internazionali commonly known as Alitalia .It started its operations on 5 May 1947 and carried over 10,000 passengers in the same year. One year later first international flight was started which travelled between Milan and cities in South America.After 10 years i.e. 31 October 1957 Alitalia merged with Linee Aeree Italiane and took on the name of Alitalia Linee Aeree Italiane.By the 1990s, Alitalia was carrying nearly 25 million passengers annually. and today, the Alitalia Group has revenues of about 5,000 million euros and carries 22 million passengers a year.The whole credit goes to a young and efficient fleet of around 180 aircraft and the commitment of more than 22,000 employees in Italy and abroad.
